Challenge
When designing a solar power plant and an electricity storage facility for Impuls Domžale, we faced several challenging challenges that required thoughtful and strategic planning of the entire system. In addition to the customer's requirement that the storage tank be placed outside, separate from the main facility, the limited transmission power to the grid was also a key challenge, as a result of the approval for the connection, the transmission power of the solar power plant is significantly lower than the installed rated power. This specificity required the introduction of innovative solutions with smart management, which in real time adjusts energy production according to the current needs of the facility. With this approach, we have made it possible to make optimal use of the generated solar energy, while limiting the amount of surpluses emitted to the grid. In addition, it was necessary to adjust the operating system according to different time blocks, thereby ensuring efficient use of energy both on weekdays and on weekends. Our responsibility spanned the entire process — from precise planning, professional installation, to the successful commissioning of the system with integrated management of the electricity storage and the existing solar power plant. With this project, we have achieved a high degree of optimization of energy use, which contributes to the sustainable development and energy independence of Impuls Domžale and represents an example of an innovative solution in the field of renewable energy sources.
Solution
With the Tesvolt TS HV 50 E electricity storage unit with a capacity of 50 kW and a capacity of 56 kWh to the existing solar power plant with a nominal capacity of 89.25 kWp, we enabled the company to optimize its electricity consumption. Both systems are integrated into the innovative TESVOLT Energy Management System (TEM), which enables precise control and efficient management of energy flows, ensuring stability and increased energy efficiency.
Results
With the existing solar power plant with a nominal capacity of 89.25 kWp and the Tesvolt TS HV 50 E electricity storage in an external container of the Slovenian manufacturer, we have enabled Impuls Domžale to comprehensively optimize electricity consumption, focusing on smart management, which ensures that the transmission to the grid is adapted to specific constraints, since the transmission power is solar power plant lower than its installed rated power. The system is designed to effectively reduce peaks in electricity consumption, allowing the company to keep consumption below the agreed billing capacity and thus avoid increasing network costs. As part of the project, we were responsible for the comprehensive design, professional installation and successful commissioning and integration of the storage tank management with the existing solar power plant, thus ensuring optimal synchronization and smooth operation of the entire system. The storage tank allows the storage of excess energy produced during periods of high solar activity and its subsequent use when the production is not sufficient for the current needs of the facility, which significantly contributes to a more stable and reliable energy supply. The comprehensive solution brings lower costs, higher energy efficiency and a significant contribution to the green transformation, which is crucial for the sustainable and competitive business of Impuls Domžale. The system is ready for future expansions, including the addition of electric vehicle charging stations and heat pumps. This flexible design makes it easy to upgrade and adapt the system to new energy requirements, ensuring the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of the company in the market.
